Higher prices, non-existent service, and shameful food shouldn't only be unacceptable to customers, but to the restaurant and its employees/ownership. The bill was far too high for what we got. It was surprising to see no manager anywhere in sight to take notice, or realize how much he was slowing things down. He was just not attending to his tables in general. He seemed much more interested in goofing around with the bartender, talking with buddies, and flirting with young women during work. We tried a few times to get our waiter's attention, but to no avail. Not once were we asked how our food was, if we'd like anything else, etc. My table was completely neglected for refills. The beef and chicken in the dishes were both greasy, and bland to the taste. This salsa tasted like eating a raw onion, with very little flavor present otherwise. I expect to taste tomato, jalapeno, spices, and a variety of flavors. The salsa left much to be desired, as said before, very watery. The remodel of this particular location feels awkward and unwelcoming. I don't suspect this restaurant is only scraping by, and should reflect on the image this quality of food gives them. It's the type of thing you'd expect a suffering restaurant to do to pinch pennies. The salsas and marinades were extremely watered down as were the drinks. One would expect service, food quality or atmosphere to adjust.

The first thing I noticed it that prices have climbed. These days, there's very little that is likeable about the whole experience. Once this was a decent, safe place for a slightly above average meal.

Well done Benji and team! Reading the other review below, I feel the food was appropriately priced for the quality, the drinks were great and the music was just right.

Sorry El Gaucho, you should take some notes. Out of all the places I've been to eat in the Portland metro, this was my favorite for all of the above reasons. I should also note that our first visit was during the pandemic, and their team did an amazing job of distancing tables, putting up barriers, and wearing masks. Come to this place for some great eats and even better drinks, but be ready to come back for the fantastic service. We watched someone bussing tables spot that our check was ready and he grabbed it for his teammate. Everything we ordered was almost instantaneously brought to our table. server Benji was incredibly attentive and was assisted by at least 6 other people checking on us while we dined. But the team effort they employ is second to none. I mean, the food is fantastic and the drinks are absolutely incredible. The service at Margarita Factory on Mill Plain puts the fancy steak houses in downtown Portland to shame.
